Ya ha salido publicado el tradicional informe anterior a la Feria de Frankfurt: «Business of Books 2016: Between the first and the second phase of transformation. An overview of market trends in North America, Europe, Asia and Latin America, and a look beyond books»

The business of books is currently evolving in many different directions simultaneously.

In many Western countries, the overall value of markets is declining, while sales are rocketing for a few blockbuster bestsellers which control an ever bigger share of total revenues.

At the same time, however, analysts have identified a modest return to growth in the United Kingdom, which, with its exuberant discounting, was previously thought to be on a highly disruptive path. The new growth is driven by (independent) publishers with the strongest Executive summary midlist, and not the bestsellers. Independent bookstores have bounced back in both the United Kingdom and the United States, where they have been battered for years by the rise of Amazon and a crisis among the retail chains.
